About

Al-Amad began with a question I couldn't set down

Before Al-Amad was a company, it was an observation from inside the clinical simulation lab at Umm Al-Qura University's College of Medicine, where I managed the skills centre: why does reaching mastery cost so much? And why can't we measure it precisely?

Al-Amad is a Saudi company that builds immersive extended-reality (XR) simulation experiences in which people practice critical skills as if in the real world — and come out with mastery proven by data.

Essence

We don't sell virtual reality. We sell a shorter distance to mastery.

In every experience we build, we remember that the person who will use it, whether a physician, a student, a pilgrim, or a delivery rider, will one day face a moment that allows no error. Our job is to prepare them for it before it arrives, not to dazzle them with technology or hand them a feeling of competence that was never proven.

That drives every decision here:

  • We choose the experiences where mastery makes a real difference, and leave the ones a simpler tool already solves.
  • We measure performance in real time, not after the fact.
  • We integrate with the client's systems, not the other way around.
  • We show what we have honestly, and defer what isn't finished.

Where We're Going

What we work toward

Our purpose

That a person reaches the decisive moment having already lived it.

Our mission

To close the gap between what a trainee knows and what their hands can do, through immersive simulation that sends them out with measured proof of mastery.

Our vision

To become the standard by which institutions in Saudi Arabia and the region prove their people are ready for the decisive moment.

Story

How Al-Amad began

  1. The first seed

As Director of the Innovation Office at the Ministry of Health, I first encountered virtual reality and its use in training. I saw in it a new way for healthcare staff to learn: moving from paper to practice without patients paying for that learning. But the timing was early: the hardware was expensive and its requirements complex, so the project stopped. The question stayed.

  2. The soil

I moved to Umm Al-Qura University's Institute of Research and Consulting Studies, then to managing the Skills and Clinical Simulation Center project at the College of Medicine. I watched how a clinical lab changes the way doctors learn, and saw what wasn't working: the cost and scarcity of physical simulators, and the difficulty of measuring what a trainee had actually learned. Every cycle ended with the same unanswered question: did they master the skill, or merely pass it?

  3. The moment

The question came back, matured: what if immersive simulation could do what a traditional lab cannot? Unlimited repetition, lower cost, and above all real-time measurement that exposes the gap between passing and mastery. The same question since 2018, and it had finally found its soil.

  4. The launch

The company launched in Q4 2025 and converted to a multi-partner limited liability company in January 2026. On 2 April 2026 my work at the College of Medicine ended, and on 3 April, my birthday, I began full-time at Al-Amad. The transition wasn't easy, but it was clear: what we're building is too large to be built in one man's spare hours.

Our identity

A name that folds time, a mark that ends in a star

In Arabic, amad is a span of time, and also the far end that effort reaches. Our identity grows from both meanings: a sphere that holds the experience, and a gold star waiting at the goal.

The founding team

I didn't build Al-Amad alone; we are three founding partners with complementary expertise.

Where We Stand

Our institutional framework

Al-Amad is a Saudi limited liability company under its own commercial registration, incubated by Wadi Makkah Innovations, the investment and innovation arm wholly owned by Umm Al-Qura University, which holds a 5% strategic stake. Alongside that runs a separate track: the University's College of Medicine is our reference project, a client relationship standing on its own.
